At Scottish Attire, we believe that finding the perfect kilt fit is essential for both comfort and showcasing timeless style. Use this guide to ensure your kilt fits just right.
1. Measuring Your Waist
- Stand tall and relax your posture.
- Identify where you’d like your kilt to sit – typically around 1-2 inches above your belly button.
- Wrap a measuring tape around this point, ensuring it’s snug but comfortable. Write down your waist measurement in inches.
2. Measuring Your Hips
- Stand with your feet together to get an accurate measurement.
- Measure around the fullest part of your hips, generally across the buttocks.
- Make sure the tape is level around your body and comfortably snug. Record this measurement in inches.
3. Measuring Your Kilt Length
- Decide the height at which your kilt will sit, which is usually where you measured your waist.
- From this point, measure down to the middle of your knee cap.
- Ensure you’re standing straight and the tape is held vertically to get an accurate length. Note this down in inches.
4. Fell Measurement (Optional)
The fell refers to the length between the top of your kilt and the bottom of the waistband. Typically, this ranges between 5 and 9 inches and can be adjusted based on your preference and style.
By following these steps, you'll ensure your kilt fits perfectly, offering you both the elegance and comfort that define traditional Scottish attire.
